About the role:

The Operations Manager plays a significant role in increasing the effectiveness of a fast-growing foundation. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations, this individual will collaborate across the Operations team and proactively identify opportunities to make our organization stronger. The Operations Manager will own a variety of special projects and will be critical in understanding how we can expand our systems and technology to better meet current and future needs across the organization. This role will also work to establish our facilities and office management functions as we consider our future physical presence. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to help the foundation build a high performing, entrepreneurial philanthropic operation.

Things you’ll do in your first year:

  • Develop procedures to progress coordination for the Operations team, including Finance and Grants Management, and improve efficiency on operations tasks
  • Work with staff across the organization, including outside IT vendors, to evaluate and deploy system and technology solutions that will enable long-term growth and ensure, including the Foundation’s first-ever CRM system
  • Lead special projects for PJMF’s operations and administration, serving as project manager for key initiatives
  • Take ownership over responsibilities in support of our day-to-day functionality, such as administrative management, curating PJMF-wide calendars, and serving as the primary contact for administrative/operations vendors
  • Build strong internal knowledge management practices, including updating our electronic storage approaches based on use team member use and needs
  • Identify long-term needs and approach for our physical office space and facilities management

  • Readiness and eagerness to step into a Manager-level role and independently own the bodies of work described above
  • Hands on operations role at a fast-paced and growing organization - we’re excited to introduce people to the world of philanthropy, so no prior non-profit experience required
  • Experience managing complex projects with multiple parties, including outside ones
  • Ability to wear a number of different hats and switch seamlessly between them

  • We anticipate the starting salary for this role to be $90,000, with flexibility based on the experience you bring to the role
  • Comprehensive benefits package including Foundation-paid medical and dental insurance for you and your dependents; flexible spending accounts; disability and life insurance; and a retirement plan that offers a 1:1 match up to 6% of your annual pay
